For Bookclubs

If you would like to use one of my books for your bookclub, here are some suggestions for discussion questions. Please note some of them are interchangeable between books. I am also happy to visit your club in person if it is local to Yorkshire, or via Zoom if at a convenient time. I do not, however, pay to be featured in clubs. Email me at gianettamurray@gmail.com with any questions.

The Vivien Brandt Series

Ungrateful Dead

This is a prequel e-novella available for free when signing up to my newsletter, and can be a good way to judge if my work is for you!

  • Did you like Vivien? Why or why not?
  • Did the San Francisco setting (and Grateful Dead references) help or hinder your enjoyment?
  • Did it bring up any memories of introducing your own partner to your parents?

Moved to Murder

  • Did you identify with Vivien and her attempts to fit into a foreign country? Why or why not?
  • Who were your favorite/least-favorite characters and why?
  • Did the setting feel authentic and did it add to the story?
  • Did you like the author’s style (dialogue, descriptions)?
  • What might you have done differently than Vivien?

Dug to Death

  • Did you identify with any of the family issues?
  •  Were you suprised by the identity of the killer? (Because I was as the author! Not how I planned it…)
  • If you didn’t read Moved to Murder, did the book still work for you?
  • Which characters would you like to see more of in future books, and why?

A Supernatural Shindig

  • Which was your favorite story and why?
  •  Was it still entertaining if you don’t believe in the supernatural?
  • Which story did you find the most convincing, and why?
  • Did you find any of the stories disturbing?
  • How did you feel about the author’s style of combining horror and humor?
  • What did you think of the role of women in the book?

The Paths Series

I participated in the Spring and Summer editions of the Seasonal Paths series, and from the beginning of the Elemental series, starting with Earth.

  • Which was your favorite story and why?
  •  Was there a story that really matched the theme requirement best?
  • Did you enjoy reading all different styles of stories on a basic theme? Why or why not?
  • What would you like to ask the authors of these stories?
